David Mead's lyrical style may draw comparisons to current contemporaries like Aimee Mann or Richard Buckner, but on his latest album, "Almost and Always", Mead is channeling an ever-changing lineup of influences from past generations. Elements of George Harrison, Nick Drake, Burt Baccarach and early Elvis Costello all seem to be present. The album is achingly beautiful — quietly synthesizing his various influences into his own unique voice.
