Lead singer Gabe Levine says Takka Takka's 2008 release, Migration, is about about existing in a place you don't belong, but conversely, it is about where you came from and how you got there. Song topics cover the full gamut of prayer, offering, poverty, culture, race, family, volcanos and more. The album was produced by by Sean Greenhalgh of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and blends styles, cultures and genres. The album also features performance help from Bryan Devendorf of The National, Lee Sargent of CYHSY, Olga Bell of Bell, and Charles Burst.
The Brooklyn band draws comparisons to Talking Heads, Paul Simon, 70s-era Peter Gabriel and Brian Eno as well as contemporaries like Vampire Weekend.
