Neon Indian is a bit of an underdog in the scope of recent electro/synth-pop revival in that it doesn't attempt to relive any of the worn cliches trampled by many others. Founder Alan Palomo builds his brand electronic sound collages without forgetting what makes a great song: memorable hooks and throttling rhythm. Neon Indian is the third, and finest, project imagined by the ambitious Palomo. Some wondered if the magic would transcend beyond the studio. We decided to give Alan and his live outfit a shot in the old library of Earth House Collective. Affirmative evidence is shown in these videos as the band proves the strength of the songwriting easily transitions to the live performance.
Jookabox combines rock, blues, soul, hip-hop, psych and more. Everything and the kitchen sink is melded, looped, blended, stirred and baked. Some might claim too much, or too weird, but the result is fun. And fun goes a long way in my book.
