Fresh Session : Elf Power

Another steamy Summer day in Indiana brought Elf Power into Laundromatinee's VIBES II performance space.  Needless to say, I was pretty thrilled to have in one of the Elephant Six collective's flagship acts in to record with us.

The Athens, Georgia-based band, led by Andrew Rieger, has been busy this year.  They released In A Cave in March of 2008, and moreover, the band teamed up with Athens institution Vic Chesnutt to release Dark Developments recently.   The band's gentle psych-pop melodies and driving guitar rhythms filled out performance space, cutting through the hazy heat.

Unfortunately our core videographers were unavailable for this session, so I had to take the reigns behind the camera for the first time.  It's happened a few times since, and I'd like to think I've improved, but Elf Power served as my virgin session as lead videographer.  Tim's editing expertised was probably put to the test putting these two videos together into something serviceable for you to enjoy.  Apologies for the "soft focus" at times.  It took me a session or two to understand the mystic arts of "back focus" and such.

Elf Power will perform at Locals Only on February 2nd with Chesnutt.  They'll handle opening duties and then serve as Chesnutt's backing band.
