Video Session : Greg Laswell

LA-based artist Greg Laswell seems to be skirting the edges of mainstream success.  In 2008, Laswell released an EP entitled How the Day Sounds and followed it with his full-length Three Flights From Alto Nido released through Vanguard Records.

In today's new world of music marketing, Laswell seems to be finding a wider audience as the television network's darling. His music has been featured on Without a Trace, Grey's Anatomy, Smallville, One Tree Hill, The Hills, Cold Case, and HBO's True Blood to name a few.

Laswell blends folk and pop into an incredibly accessible sound that melts hearts and tugs at raw emotions.  It's the kind of music tough guys rebuke publicly but secretly listen to when they're all alone and feeling vunerable.

On a cold Indiana day Laswell dropped by our VIBES II performance space to share some of his songs of heartache, recovery and new-found optimism with us.  From the sound of things, he has a lot to feel good about.

I've always enjoyed Laswell, so thanks for the studio performance - he did a great job. I do admit, it ends up being a bit of "name that 'former indie' act" while watching television in the last year or so....still sounds good though, imho. S.
