The Henry Clay People released For Cheap or For Free in November of 2008 through Aquarium Drunkard's Autumn Tone Records. The Los Angeles-based rock band is just that - a rock band. They have a rootsy, blue-collar sound that goes down easy with a beer, apple pie and a game of baseball. It's all loose, full of passion and fun. The band is now being managed by C3 Presents, the company behind both Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, and not suprsingly The HCP will be playing at both in 2009. It is the kind of exposure the band deserves and will surely win them over loads of new fans.
The band, decked out in full long underware, and at Savvy Salon, shared two unreleased tracks with us on this cold winter day. Fans of the Hold Steady, The Rolling Stones and early Bruce Springsteen are sure to find something to love within.
