Joe Pug is an unsigned up-and-coming artist who dropped out of college the day before his senior year at the University of North Carolina, packed up his bags and made the long drive to Chicago to pursue his dream of becoming a singer-songwriter. While working as a carpenter, a friend of Pug's snuck him into a recording studio late at night and when other artists had cancelled recording sessions so he could record his Nation Of Heat EP. To write the EP, he used ideas from a play he was writing called Austin Fish. His sound of reminiscent of greats like John Prine and John Hiatt with songwriting that draws comparisions to even more esteemed artists - Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.
Joe played us two selections from the Nation Of Heat EP as well as two unreleased tracks, Bury Me Far From My Uniform and Not So Sure. Pug plans to release his full-length debut some time in 2009.
Joe's session with The Laundromatinee was the first we've ever recorded and filmed in an outdoor setting, so we got some unexpected accompaniment from one of natures finest, a noisy cricket.
