Let's say you were some sort of aspiring Dr. Frankenstein of music. In your experiments, you were able to combine the talents of Jenny Lewis and Tegan and Sara, throw in a little extra emo, then place these talents into two identical Jessica Albas. Let's go further to say that you were able to survive the rip in space-time that you just created from the sheer mass of all that adorable. What you'd be left with in your musical petri dish would very likely be something similar to Meg and Dia.
Meg and Dia Frampton are sisters from St. George, Utah, the town with the Devil of Las Vegas on one shoulder and the Angel of Salt Lake City on the other. They've been playing together since childhood with Meg on guitar and backing vocals and Dia providing the lead vocal talents. Daughters of a former DJ, the sisters had plenty of opportunities to immerse themselves in their father's extensive record library.
The girls and their band have been included as part of the lineup of the Warped Tour, had a song included on the most recent TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the layman) movie soundtrack and recorded the one-time club anthem of MLS team Real Salt Lake. This year, they took part in the Take Action tour, which is aimed at getting young fans involved in social issues. Their most recent album, here, here and here, is out now on Warner Brothers.
