We welcomed Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson to Savvy Salon in Broad Ripple to record with The Laundromatinee.  

Savvy Salon is a new partner for The Laundromatinee and we couldn't be more grateful that they're into what we're doing.  Savvy was recently declared one of the three best hair salon's in Indianapolis, but in our book, they're numero uno.  You have to be if you cut and style great hair AND are into the great music and artists that we push here on The Laundro.  Savvy's owner, the lovely Katie Jones, has developed her own unique techniques for haircutting which she teaches to all her stylists. People love Savvy because Katie and crew always put a final finish on your hair by styling it and then teaching you how you style it daily when you're left all to yourself.

OK, back to the session.  If you are familiar with M-BAR, as we call Miles around the MOKB camp, you might know about the tough row he's had to hoe to get to this point in his life.  He's battled addiction.  He's been homeless.  He's hit rock-bottom on more than one occasion.  Basically, he's lived a lot of life for his 25 or 26 years.  He's got a lot of depth, sadness, knowledge and redemption in those songs.  How could he not?

Miles has been helped, along the way, by some big names...Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear and Kip Malone of TV On The Radio both helped MBAR record his self-titled debut record and have given the hand of God endorsement on his talent as a song-writer.  The collection of songs is as gritty and honest as you could hope for.  Miles is aware of the cliches surrounding his rising rock star story, but all believe he has the talent to transcend beyond them - that his music itself will inevitably be what defines him and not the stories that led to that music.
