During the time between Springfield, Missouri’s Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin's first album, Broom, and their sophomore release, Pershing, their namesake passed away. Lucky for all of us, with their love of the fallen leader still in their hearts, the band soldiered on. They released Pershing through Polyvinyl Records, earlier this year, and while on tour, shortly after its release, in support of it, they stopped by our 91.7 WEEM Pendleton Heights High School radio station.
The new songs continue the band's unabashed love of fresh, beautiful, melodious indie pop. Full of catchy hooks, the new songs almost seem built for today's TV soundtracks. They seem to know what they're good at, what their fans love, and as you can see and hear in these videos, they stick to it - maybe with a little higher production value this time out. Most importantly, they fully embrace their sound and are having fun with it.
In the new era of shortly-burn-bright-then-fade-away, SSLYBY seem to be on a healthy slow-growth curve much like similar bands that have preceeded them and they are often compared to - The Shins, Death Cab For Cutie and Nada Surf.
Touring with Via Audio, later that night, the band played an energized set at Locals Only.
