If you have trouble getting out of bed in the morning and find yourself feeling slow, sluggish, and unproductive throughout the day, consider adding some Beat Connection to your routine. Nothing gets me going in the morning like a hot cup of home-ground coffee and a few tracks of “tropical psychedelic pop,” as the Seattle-based group categorizes themselves. It’s fun, it’s fresh, and everybody’s doing it! The music is pleasantly melodic. The beats are dance club-worthy and, well, connected. After listening to a Beat Connection song, it’s difficult not to feel energized. You’ll be dancing your way through the day’s work, smiling the whole day through. So if you do end up spicing up your routine with a bit of Beat Connection, you best get yourself a good pair of shoes.

And if you really want to treat yourself, the Beat Connection sound just as good live as they do on record. They were able to put on a nice little show for us at the Earth House, live percussion and colored fluorescent lights included! For this session, they performed two tracks from their 2011 release Surf Noir. “Theme from Truly Yours” is a infectiously catchy song that slowly builds as it progresses, ending as an all-out dance number. “In the Water” is a similarly upbeat song, complemented with electric guitar and substantial vocal samples. Whether you’re someone who enjoys dancing alongside hundreds of strangers or someone who just wants something to listen to while brushing your teeth, Beat Connection is the right choice.
