To describe Yuna as an emerging pop star is significantly misleading. This stunning young woman has already earned a law degree in her home country of Malaysia. She also owns a clothing boutique.

Yuna tackles her music with the same intellect and effort as her other endeavors, earning comparisons to the likes of Regina Spektor and Fiona Apple while retaining the likeability of an international mega-star.

Yuna penned most of the material on her self-title debut album, released this year on the FADER Label. The album received some production assistance from one Pharrell Williams on a few tracks, including the lead single “Live Your Life.”

You can see by this intimate performance at the Do317.com Lounge that the songs don’t lean on slick production like many commercially accessible acts. Yuna has been crafting her skill for over ten years. It’s easy to overlook her academic ambition and world of experience when they come packaged this beautifully.
